Scratchboard Art part 1

• The scratchboard technique uses knives and tools for etching in to a thin layer of China clay that is coated with black ink.

• Sgraffito art is a technique where  a top layer of color is scratched to reveal a color beneath.

• The two techniques are similar because they both involve cutting and tracing images on to the board.
